why do people have to hate hispanic so much?? most of the articles ive read are about how annoying it is to meet mexican people who cant speak english i mean there is people that come here to the USA cuz they wanna find a good job and better life we also come here cuz we think peeps can be r and treat us better but it turns out that most of them r racist so please respect us.. we know how to luv and show respect to white people too whats so hard about showin it back ?? ive said this before but hispanic got many qualities and talents..and this has nothin to do but hey we r also great dancers and man we r sexy look at j.lo (she is a beautiful boricua/puerto rican) HEHE... anyways i hope that u try to show sum luv back cuz not all of as act gangsta/pachuco type ... anyways what do u guys think?

There's no reason to respect you because you were born somewhere else on this earth. i think it's ridiculous that people take so much pride in being Mexican, Black, White, or Asian. Why do you even care? Who cares if you're Mexican, Spanish, or Korean?

I really think you missed the point of that topic.
By the way, the ability to speak a language = NOT a race. It's not racism to not want to have to deal with customer service representatives who do not speak the main language of the country they are in (and therefore are unable to assist you). It's not racism to want a hairdresser who understands how you want your hair cut and won't have any issues with communication. I don't know how some people wind up with jobs such as those that require communication skills they do not have, but I have come across them on many occasions.
It's not only Hispanics who wind up in the US (or other foreign country) and can't speak English (or other country's language). I don't think that topic even mentioned Hispanics in particular, though it's been a while since I read it. Sure, they are a large chunk, but there are also many Vietnamese, Koreans, and other immigrants who speak little to no English when they come to the United States.
Sure, sometimes there are urgent situations where a person may have to leave their native country for one they do not speak the main language of, that's understandable. One of my friends in high school had come over from India four years earlier and didn't understand a word of English at the time - but when I knew her, her English grammar was better than that of most native speakers. She learned. I know a Polish immigrant whose English skills are still not that great despite having lived in the United States for over 30 years, but she knows enough to hold decent conversations and be ctional in a job that deals with people. Different people have different language learning skills and paces, but the key thing is to try.
I really don't have any problem with immigrants who originally spoke a different language (I actually find them interesting), as long as they're making some small effort to learn and are not working customer service jobs that they are clearly not ready for and are burdening customers as a result. When I go to a el or motel, I want to be able to tell the maid what I'm out of, not have to draw them a picture or show them an empty package (this example comes from experience) - it's their job, the guests shouldn't be the ones doing half the work. I started cutting my own hair because I had too many haircutters who did not understand English enough to know what I wanted.

I can be 100% Mexican too. I just go over there and apply for my citizenship. If so you're not any more Mexican than I am. Mexico is a territory of land. You don't have to be dark-skinned or speak Spanish to be Mexican.

I think Mexicans are really sweet. There's a mexican girl on my squad who is just as good as the rest of them and has such good rhythm. But I do have a question. I have hispanic workers in my neighborhood who keep staring out the window when I walk past them or follow me around. Is this just part of the culture?

Yeah, I've wondered the same thing as Shannon. I have nothing against Mexicans b/c I'm not racial in any way, but I've always wondered why the Mexican workers in my neighborhood always stare out the windows at me. Is it a culture thing, or is it just a couple horny workers who just happen to be Mexican? It just seems to happen a lot.

I don't have anything against Hispanics, but if anybody speaking a foreign language wants to come to the US, then they need to learn to speak English because that's the native language here. If they refuse to learn to speak our language, then they need to go back to where their language is the native language.

I'm black and personally I Hispanics, they are my fave people to be around. But there is alot of hating going around, and I think people need to be more understanding. Where I live, 10 years ago the Hispanic/Latino population was less than 10% and now it has increased to almost 40%. So there's a lot of controversy, and people get angry you know, saying we should send them back and stuff. My boyfriend is from El Salvador, and he's been in America (legally) for two years and he just now learning English. It's not that he didn't want to, it's more so that English is difficult to learn because some words sound the same and have different meanings. Some people expect everyone to know English, I mean I know people from Poland and Russia who don't speak or barely understand English and they get treated better than Hispanics. So I do think it's a racial problem. Everyone needs to realize that all immigrants come here for a chance of a better life, not to annoy us by not knowing English. We could all stand to respect the next person more. And about the Mexican men peeping, my boyfriend lives with a few Mexicans and I asked him why are they always looking over here, and beeping their horns. He was like they're just looking to get some, they think that anything as slight as a wave or friendly smile means that you want them. I thought that was kinda ny. So don't pay them too much mind, cause they don't understand that American girls are just flirty. And the one guy is right, your country doesn't make you who you are. It's your blood. I knew an entire family from Mexico, but if you ask them what race they are they'd tell you they were Ecuadorian. It's your blood and culture that make you who you are.

Hey Dark Princess, America doesn't have an official language, but the most common language is English, Spanish is 2nd.
I really want to get *#!ed off and throw a fit over this. I HATE PEOPLE WHO THINK MEXICANS ARE ALL ILLEGAL. I live in VA, and I get all this crap for being Mexican, I'm the butt of most Mexican jokes at school. I pucnhed someone for picking on me, they were obviously in pain, they punched me back and I didn't care. Last year some kids started calling my a Damn Mexican, I wanted to beat the living daylights out of them, I crushed one of their milk cartons, spilling it all over the table. That kid was lucky that wasn't his neck. If I hear a Mexican joke, I tell them to back off, then they get all racist on me, I've been asked countless times If I jumped the border. I get *#!ed everytime someone asks me that.
So those of you who think Mexicans are all illegal you can just *#! of and get a damn life!
