My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent
Looking for a new fantasy series to get addicted to? This one might just be it!
Kaylee is apparently a normal high school student, not really popular, but not a member of the geek group either. Guys usually fail to notice her because of her gorgeous best friend, Emma, but that doesn't seem to bother her much.
Problems arise when she starts having these awful forebodings about certain people dying. Every time it happens, she panics and cannot stop screaming. The one time she is truly mortified is when this happens in front of Nash, her crush.
To cut a long story short, Kaylee is soon to find out that she is not human. Unlike you'd probably expect, she's no vampire either. The book deals with a different mythological species altogether: the banshee (called "bean sidhe" here), a female creature from the Irish folklore, who wails in order to warn those around that someone is going to pass away.
This first volume of Rachel Vincent's series "Soul Screamers" has really caught my attention. If you like fantasy and folklore tales and you're more or less tired of vampire novels, I definitely recommend this book.
