Old People Shouldn’t Try to Keep Up With Youth Slang

You know what really annoys me a lot?! When parents try to speak the way we do. The other day I asked mom for permission to go somewhere, and she was like, "I’m cool with that." I can’t believe she said. Why not speak like an adult? Is it the same at you place, or my mom’s just weird? On second thought, I do hear other grown-ups use the word ‘cool’ and I've started wondering, which words would you put up with from your parents, and which ones are completely out of the question? Old people shouldn’t try to keep up with youth slang! Or should they?

I think this whole 'parents using youth slang' thing is really weird in my opinion. It just creeps me out. Like with my mom, she'll say stuff like 'aight' (not sure how you spell that), 'yo', 'dat's ', 'jiggy wid it', and other weird things. Personally, I think it's really weird. I just wish she would talk normal and not try to talk like a rapper from the 'hood'. Today's slang highly gets on my nerves when it's said by anyone, but PARENTS?! That's just plain wrong!

in my opinion parents can speak and listen to the music they want cuz sayin they cant is kinda like sayin people who speak german cant speak english

i think that old people should not try to speak slang cuz it sounds SOOOOO DUMB! 1 time my mamaw said and omg and i was like "what the.......?"

i think we as daughters and sons shouldn't tell her parents how to talk since they have been with us in the good and bad times.

"Cool" isn't really youth slang.. But I think it's ny. My mom .. she listens to rap. Now that's bad!

It was odd the first time I heard an adult use teen slang, but it wasn't a bad thing.

It's not a matter of what parents should or shouldn't do. No one has any right to tell others in what language they are allowed to speak.
